“Until the Lion learns to write, every story will glorify the hunter.”

~ African Proverb

“He who controls the narrative controls the future.” ~ Unknown

People, systems, and structures will try to control the narrative of our lives –

  •   telling you who you are

  • deciding what you’re worth

  •   defining what your limitations are -  what doors you can walk through, and what dreams and aspirations you can have

But we must offer a counter-narrative rooted in truth. In other words, Lions and Lionesses, you must WRITE Your Own Story with INTENTION.

W – Welcome Downloads for Your Story

Every great story starts with a moment of inspiration. Slow down, sit quietly, and receive the vision for your life. What do you truly desire? What narrative do you need to re-write? Transformation begins when you can welcome fresh downloads about who you are and where you’re going.

R – Revisions Are Part of Every Great Book

No author publishes without revising. Life is no different. Your plans will shift, your perspectives will evolve and your story will require edits. Don’t resist revision. Embrace it as a sign of growth!

I – Be Intentional

A great story doesn’t write itself. Be deliberate about your choices. If you want a different outcome, take aligned action. What daily habits, decisions, and investments will shape the story you want to tell?

 T – Test It

Your story isn’t meant to stay locked away. Put it out there. Try new things, share your voice, and take risks. Cast your bread upon the waters (Ecclesiastes 11:1) – you never know where it will return multiplied.

E – Expect It to Be Read

Live as if someone is watching – because they are. Expect your life to inspire others. Every time we pick up a book, we examine the title, the reviews, the preview – your life is no different. What chapter are you writing this year? What chapter will define 2025?

If you don’t write your own story, someone else will.

“Until the lion learns to write, every story will glorify the hunter.”

What will your story say? We’re waiting to read it!

How do you walk this out?

1.     Recognize the false narrative – Where is it coming from? Society, culture, family, institutions, or your inner circle?

  •   Only the world sets the standard for your success.

  •    You can’t break free of family or generational patterns.

  •    Your past/history makes you unworthy, so no one can risk taking a chance on you.

Read Numbers 13:31 - The Israelites were so conditioned to a slave mentality that even when liberated they believed they were grasshoppers. Where's your mentality coming from?

2.     Replace the false narrative with God’s counter-narrative = TRUTH. Who does God say you are?

3.     Actively speak and live out of the counter narrative which is Truth. Jesus countered satan’s narrative with It is written... Matt. 4:1-11 If you believe the true narrative your steps and actions should align with that belief.

   Establish boundaries.

  •    Embrace new choices.

  •    Avail yourself to new opportunities.

  •   Surround yourself with the right voices who reinforce the truth about who you are and your potential.

4.     Embody the counter-narrative for others. When we overcome we become witnesses to others that they can overcome as well.

The world will always attempt to define you, but your counter-narrative is that God already has! When we align our identity with His truth, we reclaim control of the story.

From Light to Light,
