Welcome October!

Writer: Wanda PendergrassWanda Pendergrass

Welcome, October! As the seasons change and the air grows crisp, let us embrace this new month with hearts full of gratitude and faith.

Our fellow Americans are experiencing disappointment, heartache, and fear. Many today, are facing unimaginable loss from this devastating hurricane and are grieving; loss of dreams, loss of hope, loss of residence, and loss of life. We are reminded of the fragility of life and the importance of reassessing what truly matters. Let us reflect on the values that guide us and consider whether they align with God’s call to love and serve others as He intends.

Why? Because, in moments of crisis, we often see the best of humanity emerge; people extending compassion, offering help, and sharing resources with those in need. And this is wonderful! And, these times prompt us to question how we live day to day. Are we living with intentional empathy or do we act only when disaster strikes? And, is our empathy conditional? Do we offer it only when it suits us, extending it to those we believe deserve God’s love, while withholding it from those we assume are under His judgment?  Do we truly embody the love of Christ?

Join me in praying that God will meet every need; spiritual, emotional, mental, physical, financial, legal, and safety. We don’t know what the future holds, but we know who holds our future. He who holds our future can be trusted.

Let this season be a time of renewal, where we commit to growing in our compassion, our love, and our giving- not just in a moment of crisis, but as a daily living practice. Everyday is an opportunity to extend Abba’s grace to others as there are so many in this world who are hurting. So, let’s pray and act! This month, let’s reassess how we can better reflect the heart of Christ in our prayers and actions.

May we see God’s hand in every moment, trusting Him to guide us through each day with grace and purpose! Blessings to you all this beautiful season!

Always encouraging reflection,

WandaP

Hi Mrs. P,

I just recently experienced pushing boundaries that taught me a very valuable lesson where a word warning was ignored. This was a timely word of confirmation. Thank you for sharing when you did.

Thank you, Wanda. As I reflect on our neighboring cities, counties, and states, the loss is devastating, to say the least. It's good to know where you stand in giving and/or blessing others. Is it on a consistent, ongoing basis or do I just jump in and lend a hand in a time of crisis? 🤦🏽‍♀️

So empowering. This article allows us to reflect on how we are treating our fellow man. Jesus expects us to show kindness and humbleness.
